One of ARC’s newest club Model United Nations Club earned honors in Mid April 2005 during their first trip to an annual four-day conference, “Rebalancing the Global Agenda.” The club is the first to receive a Certificate of Achievement Award. “Not bad for first-time club,” said Kathleen Colliham, political science professor and advisor to the Model United Nation Club (MUN). The Model United Nations Club is in its ninth year. It is an academic club, which conduct educational and informational activities for the benefit of its members and the college community. The club provides an opportunity for members to participate in an intercollegiate competition to better understand cooperative dialogue, formal debate, research processes and diplomatic skills. The ARC-MUN provides a positive and fun environment for the further learning. Not only will a student learn more about the world but also will meet a very outgoing group of people. Additionally, will be an active part of the college community, which may benefit a student college application and individual resume. Not surprisingly, 90% of the 2005-2013 MUN-ARC transferred to a UC OR CSU. A team of 32 ARC students attended the 64th session of the Model United Nations of the Far East, April 10-14 2014 in Burlingame. At the end of competition, ARC teams won Awards in Art and Practice of Diplomacy. Kathleen Collihan, ARC Political Science professor, joined the students.
